عالميون . إن كلمة روبوت في اللغة التشيكية تعني العمل الشاق . و من هذا التاريخ بدأت هذه الكلمة تنتشر في الكتب و أفلام الخيال العلمي الأولى التي أعطت فكرة و تصور علمي عن هؤلاء الرجال الآليين الذين سيغزون العالم. و أعطت أفقا كبيرا ووعودا عظيمة للإنسان الأعجوبة الذي سيتدخل في أمور كثيرة و أهمها الصناعة . و قد تم وضع الكثير من الدراسات و التوقعات عن هذا الإنسان الآلي التي فشلت فيما بعد . و لكن بعد الكثير من وضع التصاميم الجيدة و الانتباه الجاد إلى الكثير من التفصيلات و الأمور الدقيقة , نجح المهندسون في تقديم أنظمة آلية متنوعة للكثير من الصناعات المتوقعة في المستقبل القريب . و اليوم، و بسبب التطور الهائل للحواسب و الذكاء الصنعي و التقنيات و الهوس في تطوير البرامج الفضائية فنحن على حافة إنجاز كبير آخر في مجال علوم تصميم الروبوتات . إذاً الروبوت هو مناول قابل للبرمجة ثانية و يستطيع القيام بمهام عديدة و يخصص لتحريك مواد , أجزاء ,و أدوات أو ماكينات معينة عبر حركات مختلفة البرمجة لأداء عدد من المهام. إن هذا التعريف يشمل تشكيلة واسعة من المناولات الروبوتية . و ضمن هذا التعريف لدينا أصناف من الروبوتات تتضمن ما يلي :
الروبوتات المؤقتة "الصناعية المرنة" : تستخدم في عمليات التصنيع على نطاق واسع بما في ذلك تجميع الأجزاء , الاختبار , معالجة المواد , اللحام , و طلاء المواد .
روبوتات الاستكشاف عن بعد : يخصص هذا النوع للبقاء في الأماكن التي لا يستطيع البشر البقاء فيها و تحملها .
روبوتات التعويضات و العلاج الطبي : يمكن ترويض التقنية الروبوتية و أجهزة الإحساس فيها لإنتاج أعضاء تعويضية و تتمتع بحاسة اللمس .
روبوتات معالجة المواد الخطرة : و تستعمل لإزالة القنابل و معالجة المواد الخطرة .
روبوتات الخدمة : لأغراض الحراسة , ضبط الأبواب , تسليم البريد و الوقاية من الحرائق.
